About Your Tutor
Hey, my name is Severin! I'm a student at San Jose State University studying for an aerospace engineering degree. I scored a 1590 on the SAT. When I'm not tutoring other students, I'm practicing trading in the stock and foreign exchange markets.

Education
2018-2024
49ers STEM Leadership Institute
In 2018 I was selected for the 49ers STEM program, a prestigious 60-student cohort that works together on projects and advanced classes from 7th to 12th grade. Throughout my time here I completed multiple engineering projects, competing in FIRST tech challenge as well as writing a research paper about the viability of an aerospike nozzle applied to a scramjet propulsion system.
2024-Present
San Jose State University
I'm currently learning Aerospace engineering at San Jose State University! I'm also studying machine learning!
How does tutoring work?
At Pacifica Prep, we prioritize personalized learning, but also see the value of allowing students to make mistakes and learn together in controlled environments. Therefore, we give every student considerable personal attention in the form of 1-on-1 video calls and 24/7 messaging, as well as a healthy group environment with students of fellow skill levels. By blending these two learning methods, we ensure our students learn all necessary material for their exam or course more thoroughly than they would by focusing solely on either personalized or group learning.
How do you assess student needs and progress?
Every student is unique, and thus our teachers account for the wide variety of learning needs of each student. We have multiple strategies to address different student learning styles, and adjust our teaching strategies accordingly for each student. Tracking student progress is more simple; we regularly administer practice exams to gauge student progress over time.
Do you offer free consultations or trial sessions?
We do! Our free consultations often include brief trials where students and parents can meet their tutor before signing up. In these sessions students can ask any questions they have and review any problems or topics troubling them on the exam, and parents can preview the typical format of a tutoring session to ensure their child will receive the attention and care they deserve.
What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee---if you're not satisfied with our services, cancel at any time before your monthly renewal date. Our reschedule policy is also very flexible; if you cannot make it to a 1-on-1 tutoring call we'd be happy to accommodate you. If you're unable to attend a group call we'll try our best to switch you to a different group at a different, more convenient time.
How soon will I see results?
Everyone learns at a different pace, but nearly all students will see an improvement in their score within the first month of tutoring.
Do you guarantee a specific score increase?
Unfortunately we do not offer score increase guarantees, but we do offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. You can ask for a full refund (for the most recent month only) at any time if you're not satisfied with our service.
What materials do students need for tutoring?
We offer all the necessary materials students need to improve their SAT scores! All they need is a laptop and reliable internet connection to attend classes/tutoring sessions and message tutors when needed. All of our most highly-recommended materials are available for free online, with some extra third-party resources available for purchase at the student's discretion.
Do you offer in-person tutoring?
Unfortunately not; due to the nature of our services and the variety of geographical locations students attend from, we can only offer online tutoring.
Do you provide homework assignments/additional practice?
Yes, we do. Students will be assigned group work after each group study session, as well as major homework assignments after each 1-on-1 lecture. Our tutors also assign students work at a pace they're comfortable with via our 1-on-1 messaging services.
